Curry Fish in Alor Star

If you are in Alor Star and looking for some great curry fish (or fish head) do head out to Orkid Tropika Cafe. The place is off Jalan Langgar and is in front of Dewan Taman Setia Jaya.  It is a little secluded but not too difficult to find.  The cafe is on the ground floor of a flat and if you go on a peak period, its better to call them (019 576 8699 Win Win Lee) ahead to reserve your fish or fish head.  Their curry is rather unique - quite coconutty, light and not too spicy.  The gravy can be taken by itself and do remember to ask them for more otherwise you will be scooping it dry.  I also tried their Kam Heong Shrimp and it was wonderful too.  The other dishes that I had was some stir fried vegetables with local tofu and deep friend squid and they are just ok.  But their curry fish was excellent – I probably put on some weight there as I had double serving of rice! 

This place is closed for Sunday dinner and Monday.
